Ohagi or Botamochi is a traditional Japanese confection wagashi, with sweet rice and anko (sweet beanpaste).
Botamochi and Ohagi are basically the same wagashi. Historically, "Botamochi" is eaten around the Spring Equinox, and anko is koshian (pulp free smooth paste), and and "Ohagi" is enjoyed in fall with tsubuan (whole bean paste). But in recent years, there's no strict distinction.
So I take the loose definition and serve Ohagi in spring!
